Step-by-Step Ford Key Fob Programming Instructions
Need to know how to program a Ford key fob? Follow the steps here:
- Close all the car doors, then open the driver-side door. Press the unlock button on the driver’s side panel.
- Next, turn the ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times. Do this quickly, within 10 seconds. You’ll want to make sure the 8th time ends on RUN. Once you’ve entered programming mode, the door locks will cycle from lock to unlock. (Note: If the doors don’t cycle, turn the key faster. If you still can’t get the door locks to cycle, your car may not have keyless entry.)
- Within 8 seconds, press any of the buttons on the Ford remote to link the programming. If done successfully, the door locks will cycle as a confirmation.
- Need to program a second remote key fob? Press any button on the remote again within 8 seconds. The door locks should cycle again if you’ve successfully programmed the fob. Repeat this process for any additional key fobs.
- Finally, turn the ignition to OFF. The locks will cycle once more to confirm you’ve exited programming mode.
